Onyx Odds earns a C grade from SweepsGuard. Independent review of Onyx Odds: payouts, complaints, bonuses — and is it legit?
SweepsGuard Grade: C.
SweepsGuard grades Onyx Odds a C based on its complaint and payout history — a middle-of-the-road grade — a real operator with a mixed or thin track record, so check its complaint history before you play. Always read its official sweepstakes rules and play responsibly.
Overview Onyx Odds is a social sportsbook run by Onyx Games LLC, live since October 2024. Instead of a slot lobby, the whole site is built around sports picks. Players make picks on the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, college football, UFC, tennis, golf and a long list of other leagues, with spreads, totals, moneylines, props, parlays and live markets. There are two currencies: Onyx Coins for free play, and Onyx Cash, the sweepstakes currency that can be redeemed for cash. A small set of mini-games (Blackjack, Roulette and a few arcade titles) sits alongside the sportsbook, but Onyx Cash won in those games can't be redeemed. In September 2026 Onyx started promoting a second product, Onyx Predictions, in CA, NJ, CO, LA, IN, WV, ID, ME and AL. Those are states where the sweepstakes product isn't offered. Onyx Predictions is not a sweepstakes. It is a federally regulated sports-event contract product run by an affiliate, Onyx Predictions LLC, an introducing broker registered with the National Futures Association. Trades clear through NinjaTrader Clearing LLC, and players open an account with NinjaTrader to use it. Onyx says neither company holds the funds. This report grades the Onyx Odds sweepstakes product only. We are asking the operator how the two products relate inside the app. Player Reception Onyx Odds holds a middling Trustpilot score on a modest number of reviews, and the reviews are split. Most reviewers give five stars, a large group gives one star, and very few land in between. The positive side talks about quick payouts, good prop selection and support agents who fix problems fast. The negative side keeps coming back to one story: an account suspended right after a big win, a referral or a redemption request, with the balance frozen and little explanation. Those reports were still arriving in September 2026, a few of them citing device-sharing or referral rules. A smaller set of reviews mentions redemptions rejected without a clear reason and mail-in requests that never credited. The operator now replies to most of its negative reviews on Trustpilot, which it did not do earlier in the year. Strengths A full sports pick product with a broad market list, including live and prop markets Low redemption floor of 20 Onyx Cash, with redemptions to a debit card or bank account that the cashier describes as instant after approval Onyx Cash from purchases, bonuses or mail-in needs to be played once before it can be redeemed, on picks priced at -500 or longer. The operator reserves the right to require more play than that Free mail-in entry pays 5 Onyx Cash per request, up to 100 requests per monthly sweepstakes period, and the rules spell out the full process (see the crediting complaints below) Current sweepstakes rules (version 2.1.2, September 2026) name the sponsor and list the excluded states clearly Issues Account suspensions after wins or redemption requests are the most common complaint in player reviews, and they are still being reported. The rules let Onyx close an account and forfeit Onyx Cash at its discretion for suspected collusion, multiple accounts or self-referral, and affected players say they are rarely told which rule they broke The mail-in complaint we mediated (Case #40) went unanswered, and a handful of reviewers describe the same problem with uncredited mail-in requests Minor Issues Onyx Cash expires 30 days after your last login, shorter than most sweepstakes sites Onyx can refund a purchase instead of paying a redemption, and it reserves the right to charge processing fees on redemptions One redemption per account every 5 days, processing can take up to 30 days, and the operator may cap redemptions at $1,000 a week and $5,000 a month Onyx Cash won in the mini-games or through the in-app cash out feature can't be redeemed, which is easy to miss The Terms of Use carry an unfilled placeholder where the NinjaTrader account documents should be linked Track Record Onyx Games LLC has run Onyx Odds since October 2024, so it has close to two years of operating history. In June 2026 the company was reported to have raised a $20 million funding round led by Payward, the parent of the crypto exchange Kraken. The sweepstakes product runs under U.S. sweepstakes law, not a gaming license, and is available in most U.S. states. Payouts are the strong point in player feedback. The weak point is account closures, where players describe losing a balance with no clear reason and no way to appeal. SweepsGuard Status SweepsGuard has one published complaint against Onyx Odds. In Case #40 an Illinois player's mail-in entries were never credited, support tickets were marked solved without a reply, and the operator did not respond to mediation. The case closed as Unresolved, No Response. Onyx Odds is a strong sports pick product with a low redemption floor and quick card payouts. The suspension reports and the unanswered mail-in case keep it from ranking higher. If you play here, finish identity verification before you deposit, don't share a device or a household account with other players, and keep screenshots of your balance and any redemption request.
